The Parkite Unveiled on Park City Main Street

BNA was the Electrical Engineering team on the Parkite in Park City, UT
In addition to retail spaces, there are 15 condominiums at The Parkite, ranging from two- to four-bedroom designs with sleek, modern living spaces with open floor plans and sweeping views of the surrounding mountains.

Ballet West opens new world-class facility

BNA was the electrical engineering firm on the new Ballet West Facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Salt Lake Tribune featured an article on the new facility.
“A cross-hatched metallic scrim decorating the boxy Jessie Eccles Quinney Ballet Centre offers a new downtown light show on busy 200 South.

The contemporary flair of the diagonal design visually ties the new $22 million building to the brick patterning and terra-cotta façade of its 101-year-old neighbor, the recently renovated Janet Quinney Lawson Capitol Theatre. Arts leaders think the high-tech LED lighting display will shine as a metaphor for the cultural and financial investment in Salt Lake City’s expanding downtown arts district.

The specific "lighting witchcraftery" of the design is thought to be unique in the country. "We wanted that play of theater in the exterior," says Brian D. Junge, vice president of HKS architects, without competing with the lights of the Capitol Theatre marquee.”

Trio of new centres for SUU

Trio of new centres for SUU
World Architecture News

Brooks + Scarpa has designed three new centres for the Southern Utah University (SUU) campus: the Southern University Museum of Arts (SUMA); the Beverley Taylor Sorenson Center for the Arts; and an Artistic/Production Building. The SUMA will be the anchor for the Beverley Taylor Sorenson Center for the Arts which will replace the existing open-air Adams Theater.
Construction is due to begin on the project shortly, providing updated art gallery space on the Southern Utah University campus. Inspired by the nearby sandstone formations of Bryce Canyon and Mt. Zion National Park, the design team has generated a canyon-like roof system with a dramatic cantilever that provides an additional 5,000 sq ft of external space.
This sheltered space will be used for cultural activities and social engagements, and the overhang provides adequate shading for the artworks displayed within. Views towards the nearby mountain ranges have been preserved. The building design also enables visitors to the institution to view behind-the-scenes operations within the museum.
SUMA has been designed as a one-storey building comprising galleries, classrooms, workshops, storage, and offices. Gallery spaces will be re-configurable to fit the needs of upcoming exhibitions. The Beverley Taylor Sorenson Center for the Arts includes rehearsal areas, a costume shop, studio theatre, and administration offices, while the Shakespeare Theater and Production Building will blend office and conference rooms with rehearsal space and a black box theatre.
